That’s completely understandable and normal, and you’re not alone. Many people feel anxious before opening up about something so harmful. But our therapists are trained to create a non-judgmental, supportive space where you can explore your thoughts and feelings in your own time. There’s no pressure to share anything you’re not ready to.

CBT-E is particularly effective for eating disorders because it is completely personalised and flexible, addressing your individual needs. It consists of four stages:

  1. Starting Well: You’ll start exploring and understanding your eating disorder.
  2. Taking Stock: You’ll establish goals and define how you’ll track your progress.
  3. Individual Modules: You’ll address your specific thought and behaviour patterns. These could include body image, mental health conditions, your moods, eating control, calorie counting, or anything else relevant.
  4. Engine Well: You’ll plan for your healthy, happy future by developing coping strategies to handle setbacks and changes.

Everybody is different, and we’ll go at whatever pace you feel comfortable with. Some people who undertake online eating disorder therapy may start to notice positive changes within a few weeks, but many will need between 10 and 20 sessions, sometimes more.
